Year joined: 2010
Qualifications: Dipl. Masch. Ing. PhD DIC CPA EPA
Andrea has experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and the US, in a wide range of technical fields from biomedical applications to information technology and engineering. After completing her degree, Andrea was awarded a grant to undertake research in bio-MEMS and microfabrication at the University of Tokyo. She is named inventor on a patent generated from her two years' research in Japan. Her doctoral research was carried out between high energy physics, chemical nanosciences, and biomedical engineering. Her thesis relates to separation science, in particular to protein capillary electrophoresis, and microfluidics. Throughout her doctoral work Andrea worked closely with start-ups in the biomedical sector.
Andrea has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich, with specialisation in biomedical technology and nanotechnology. During her degree she undertook research work at the École Polytechnique Fédérale Lausanne, the University of Austin Texas, and the Yerevan Cardiologic Institute in Armenia. Andrea completed an interdisciplinary PhD in chemical biology at Imperial College London.
